The EMECS consortium combines the strengths of four leading European universities in the field of Embedded Systems. We have numerous research activities and we particpate in two European Networks of Excellence, namely, ARTIST2 and HiPEAC.

Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau

TU Kaiserslautern was founded in 1970 as the only technical university in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Despite its relative young age it has established itself as a center of research excellence and achieved top places in overall German rankings. It is recognized as one of the best universities in Germany to study Electrical & Computer Engineering. The university has many collaborative projects with industrial partners in Germany and Europe.
The city is a center of innovation, the futuristic PRE-UNI-Park, a technology site with modern architecture spanning 70,000 m², constitutes the core of the Science Alliance, an excellent network of internationally-renowned research facilities and industries.
On January 1, 2023, the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the University of Landau merged to form the Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau.

Also, it's one of the UK’s leading research-intense universities. Moreover, its School of Electronics and Computer Science is the biggest and strongest in the United Kingdom (The Institution of Engineering and Technology).

Norwegian University of Science and Technology
It is the best university in Norway in terms of research in technology and second largest in terms of student number. NTNU hosts the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience, four national centres of excellence and four elite centres for research-based innovation. In partnership with SINTEF, NTNU is responsible for seven national research centres for eco-friendly energy.

Politecnico di Torino
For 160 years, the Politecnico di Torino has been one of the most prestigious public institutions at both the International and the Italian levels concerning education, research, technological transfer and services in all sectors of architecture and engineering.
Torino is considered the industrial capital of Italy and hosts headquarters and/or research centers of many important companies, including FCA, Telecom Italia, Thales Alenia Space, Magneti Marelli, Alstom. The main site of the new Italian Institute for Artificial Intelligence is also located in Torino, as well as a major site of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT).
Politecnico di Torino hosts leading research groups working in the area of Embedded Systems design.
