The EMECS consortium combines the strengths of three leading European universities in the field of embedded systems. We have numerous research activities and we particpate in two European Networks of Excellence, namely, ARTIST2 and HiPEAC

University of Kaiserslautern

The University of Kaiserslautern was founded in 1970 as the only technical university in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Despite its relative young age it has established itself as a center of research excellence and achieved top places in overall german rankings. It's recognized as one of the best 5 universities in Germany to study electrical & electronic engineering. The university has many collaborative projects with industrial partners in Germany and Europe.

The city is a center of innovation, the futuristic PRE-UNI-Park, a technology site with modern architecture spanning 70,000 m², constitutes the core of the Science Alliance , an excellent network of internationally-renowned research facilities and industries.

Also, it's one of the UK’s leading research-intense universities. Moreover, its School of Electronics and Computer Science is the biggest and strongest in the United Kingdom (The Institution of Engineering and Technology)

Norwegian University of Science and Technology

It is the best university in Norway in terms of research in technology and second largest in terms of student number. NTNU hosts the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience, four national centres of excellence and four elite centres for research-based innovation. In partnership with SINTEF, NTNU is responsible for seven national research centres for eco-friendly energy.
